While cults frequently go do to door mainstream religions usually do not. Almost always fascist movements are required to motivate people to go door to door because this kind of work is a bit embarrassing. I was roommates with a sociopath Jehovah Witness cult member who wanted an angry god to “execute” all non believers. The irony is after he spent all his life going door to door it was he who have been “executed”. Life is made up of time and time spent on door to door work is a slow murder of the stupid.

Im sorry Christian Peper if you think that way but Jehovah’s Witnesses are not a cult a we do believe that all non-believer will be excecuted or judge at Armageddon. So your roommate was not a soicopath he just really believes in our religion. Going door to door is not worthless, we are trying to get other to believe us and worship the only true god Jehovah. We also don’t think going telling people the good news of the kingdom is embarrasing, we view it as a privalege because Jehovah assigned us to do it. So all I am trying to say is don’t think that because people do thing differently that you that they are stupid, sociopaths ,etc. if you really haven’t thought about the good things that we provide.
What exactly is so good about your “news”? That all except a very few are doomed to hell? That there is a god and its the evil genocide endorsing, murdering, immoral, gods of the bible that think rape victims should be forced to mary the one who raped them, those in your family that do not belief should be killed, who thinks woman are “unclean”, woman should be silent in church, that has no problem with men marring multiple wived, fathers selling there daughters to there future husbands, slavery, that came to earth to set father against son, mother against daughters husband against wife, who came not for peace but to bring “the sword” and many other horrible things? (yes it says all those in the bible.
Quit annoying people with your religion! Every one has the rights to there beliefs but when they start bothering others with them, thats different. We are not interested in your religion, no one wants to be bothered with it, leave people alone.

Its not disrespect, its the truth, we are not interested in your religion, if someone is interested in your religion they will ask about it, hell they will look it up on line. What rude is going to some one house and annoying them with your religion when they are not interested. How would you like it some one came to your door which the intention of converting you to some other version of Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism or even deconverting you to atheism. You would not like that. And what you do not want others to do to you do not do to others.
Religion is not special, its is not sacred, it is not immune from parody. It is like any other belief, any philosophy, any ideology, any idea. Religion gets no special treatment. And yes Jehovah’s Witnesses do make fun of other religions, you and they are just as human as the rest of us.
Don’t judge others? Why not? Don’t judge Yahweh? Why not? He dose not exist and if he did than it would be out duty to judge and criticise him.

I’ll try to reply to it but I’ll only reply to a part of it, I don’t feel like untangling it.

I guess the children, baby’s and animals where doing wrong too. Buy why did he tell people to kill them? Why didn’t he do it him self? And why did he want them dead? Why didn’t he go down and do something so huge that they would all stop doing what they he didn’t want them to do?
Gods omniscients. Why do Christens still think their god is all-knowing? If Yahweh is all knowing than he knew what Satan would do before he created him, he know what the snake would do before he created it, he knew what Adam and Eve would do before he created them, he knew what there ancestors would do and he didn’t like what they did yet he did nothing to prevent it even though all it would have taken was giving them different personality’s when he created them yet he created them which those personality’s.
Ether Yahweh screwed up or he wanted things to happen the way they did. If Yahweh is omniscient than he wants things to be the way they are, he wants history to have played out the way it did. It he wanted things to happen the way the did and are he screwed up and if he is omniscient than he could not have screwed up. So if he is then he wanted things to have happened they way the did and are. He wants me and other not to believe in him, he wanted the vast majority of people who have lived to not believe in him and not even be aware of Judaism and Christianity and he wants the vast majority of people living today to fallow the wrong religions.

We (theist and non-theist, Christens who are pf different version of Christianity and non-Christens) are not interested, we don’t want to hear it. 1. I think your god is a myth and your bible is mythology. I put your god in the same category as every other deity and your bible in the same category as every other mythology. Your heaven is a myth, your hell is a myth, your afterlife is a myth, your god is a myth.

The universe is vast, incomprehensibly vast. The observable universe is estimated to be 93 billion light years across with an estimated 125 billion galaxys and an estimated 10^21 stars we are made of materiel that make of 4% of the universe. We are so incomprehensible small in comparison. The earth is to the universe as a single quark is to the the earth. On the scale of the universe we are utterly insignificant. Yes when you look at all we have done, you would think that we are a great species and on the scale we live at we are but when you look at us from the scale of the observable universe, we are not even a blip on the radar. If there is a creator of this universe, it dose not give a shit about us, we are simply too small.

I have been in debates about god(s), Yahweh and religion with people far better than you at debating (and even better than me) and they have not came up with a single half way descent argument for the existence of any god or gods of any definition of the word “god” The only arguments that any one ever gives are ones that would take advantage of peoples problems or ones that would only work on people who already believe and want to believe. If you take all these arguments and critically examine the arguments, they are all bad.
I suggest you hang around a few forums and actually read some of the debates between people, especially between atheists and theists.

Hehe, you pwned that dubbie. She’s probably going to go back to her home reading scripture to back up her beliefs in a religion that for all sociological purposes, is a cult that really doesn’t give a shit about her or her well being.
I would disagree with you on one thing, you’re judging all gods by a literal interpretation of Biblegod. Biblegod, taken literally is an evil asshole that needs to be opposed at every turn. That is, if you actually believe in a god that promoted incest, genocide and infanticide (You dubs think abortion’s wrong?). My interpretation of god, thank god, is somewhat like Spinoza’s or Thomas Jefferson’s interpretation of god. A teacher, a leader, but not somebody who interferes in life other than to lead a man or woman by their own intellect and wisdom. And one that has left his wisdom on all sorts of social groups. It’s best to learn everybody’s customs and wisdom, and apply it in our own lives rather than be trapped in a book filled with legalistic rules. Forget what the bible says about “it is not wise for a man not to listen to scripture”. This is the same scripture that condones slavery. There is good in all religions.
As for burning in hell (Or according to the JWs, getting annihilated by god) I’ve accepted my fate as just another creature of god. Tortoises live for 200 years, cats live for 15-20 years, and mice live for 3 years. Turns out that humans live for 65-120 years assuming no disease. I’ve accepted the fact that I’m another creature and the best way I can worship God is to be wise, be internally strong, be as moral as possible and try to cause as little suffering in the world as possible. If God thinks I’m evil for not being a member of an Abrahamic faith and sends me to She’ol, Hell or to total annihilation, (They don’t teach those big words in Theocratic Ministry Stool), so be it. He’s a sociopathic fuck if he sends me there. Meanwhile, I respect all religions, cultures and behaviors.
Jehovah’s Witnesses in themselves are the worst in Abrahamic religions. They decry child molestation in the Catholic church but they have a huge molestation scandal in their own doors that they’re not willing to admit to. They decry other churches excommunicating their whistleblowers, but they excommunicate theirs. I haven’t met one JW that can disprove me on either claim, other than for the misspelled ad hominem attack or extreme cognitive dissonance. You pwned the dub, and I don’t think other dubs will come to his/her defense.
BTW, I grew up as a JW. I left after I couldn’t take the hypocrisy on their stance on child molestation anymore, since I was also physically abused by my family and I was also told to keep it hush hush from the police by my family members and elders.

Well, Im sorry. Sometimes I just cant express myself in a positive way when prople are getting on my nerve.
no one person is the same. every religion, every kind of person, they all have faults. you can’t judge almost 7 million people of the world based on just a few of the ones that mess things up for themselves. you cant judge all atheists or muslims or christians or hindus or mormons based on one person. every human being is different and just because someone in a religion is a hypocrite, it doesnt mean that they all are. once you get to know all 7 million of Jehovah’s Witnesses, THEN you can judge them as a whole.
My take on the main reason going door to door preaching is wrong is because it ends up recruiting the lonely, and the vulnerable. I have a form of high functioning autism, which impairs my social functioning severally. As such I would tend to do almost anything for social acceptance. Fortunately I have a high enough IQ that I am able to largely overcome my handy cap by learning social skills on an intellectual rather than instinctive level as most people do, and therefor don’t get taken advantage of as many like me do. Unfortunately not all the people down at the autism society learning with me are nearly so bright. And that is why door to door preaching by JWs worked with one of my class mates who I suspect is boarder line retarded. She’d have done anything, and I mean anything, for a little social acceptance. Which at first they gave her. Then it’s, oh, can you go door to door today? Then it’s two days. Then it’s three days. Now she comes in balling her eyes out almost every time I see here because the elders are threating to disfollowship her because of her autistic behaviours, and the fact that she isn’t able to spend all her time doing church work while she is in social skills training. To someone with no social skills, who has been lonely all her life, threatening to kick her out of the only group she belongs to in order to control her is just plain evil.
Like all cults, JWs are very good at picking off the weakest members of the herd, isolating them, and then exploiting them. In fact JWs pretty well pioneered the modern cult model of repeatedly, and viciously suing the pants off of anyone, and everyone that question their abuses. I also admire their ability to retain 7 million members despite they’re many glaring internal inconsistencies. E.g. The world not ending as predicted… three times. And the fact that the 144k will rule a new eden on earth from heaven. I don’t know about you… but isn’t a massive government bureaucracy overseeing earth kind of incompatible with the idea of paradise, which by definition wouldn’t require a government?
P.S. For the record, eternal life is NOT something I want in any way, shape, or form. 80-100 years of this crap will be plenty thanks. Even in paradise you can only spend so many years eating ambrosia, and making love on the beach. If your fictional God shows up, have me put on the annihilation list, please and thank you.
in response to your first post, i agree that what they are doing to that poor girl is just wrong. no one should be threatened for something they cant control. for many, the JW RELIGION gives people hope and something to believe in. if you do not agree with it, that is perfectly fine. i think that everybody is entitled to their own beliefs without having to be persecuted for it. actually. im a JW, but that doesnt mean i agree with everything they say. i think that its greedy for a god to have created the earth and put people on it, jus so he can be worshipped. oh well. i dont like that being different from everyone can be a problem, but idc. i continue to be an individual and i dont try to morph what others believe. i dont take advantage of vulnerable ones, i try to be a friend to them and i make myself look like a fool just to cheer them up. if i think about it, the only reason i would want to live forever is to be with someone i love with all my heart
