Is Satan realy evil?
Saten is portraid as evil by Christans, but is he? Lets look at the scripture.
The Sepint
The Serpint in the Genises is offten considerd to be Satan by many Christans. But the scripture doesn’t really suport this.
2 Samuel 24:1
Only in 2 translation have I seen Satan mention in this verse (21 century King James Version and Young’s Literal Version (“an adversary”,Satan is Hebrew meaning “the adversary” or “the accuser”)) but most translation say “he” implying God said it. In The Message version it says “He tested David by telling him, ‘Go and take a census of Israel and Judah.’”
But whether God or Satan told David to take the census the later punishment for taking the census was done by God who killed at least 70,000. Then later repents, God repented “the LORD repented of the evil,”.
1 Chronicles 21:1
A retelling of the stoy from 2 Samuel 24. In this retelling Satan tempted David. But the result was the same, God killed at least 70,000 people.
Job 1:6-2:3
Well Satan dose show him self to be evil here but not the evil that Christens see him. In these 2 chapters Satan kills Jobs family, takes away everything he has and give him a horrible disease but all with the permission of God. He asks God if he could do those things to him. If fact in this story Satan is more like a manifestation of God doubt than an adversary of God.
Psalm 109:6
Only in the King James Translations and The Massage translation have I found “Satan” in this verse, most say “an accuser” but that can translate as “Satan” however in the context of the chapter Satan the angel dose not make sense, an accuser however would.
Zechariah 3:1-2
Again, different translations say ether “Satan” or “accuser” however even if it is “Satan” than it dose not tell us anything about Satan other than than God saying “I rebuke you!”
Matthew 4
In this chapter Satan or the Devil tempts Jesus. It doesn’t say much about Satan beyond that but in context with Job and the since the word “devil” come from a Greek word that means “slanderer” or accuser” and “Satan” being a Hebrew word that means “accuser” or “adversary” it fits with a pattern that implies that Satan is not an adversary of God but an angel that tempts humans not to take them away from God but to test them.
Matthew 12:26
Here is where it starts to turn Satan from an adversery of man to an adversery of God.
Matthew 13:39
And here it continues it
Matthew 16:23
I don’t know if this was the New Testemint writers changing the role of Satan in the mytholigy or if it represents a common view of Satan by the Jews of the time but it clearly shows that the mytholigy of Satan had evolved from an adversery and accuser of humans to an enamy of God.
Matthew 25:41
This is the first time The devil or Satan is said to have angels of his own.
Mark and Luke pretty much repeat what mathew said about Satan
John mentions “devil” several time but they don’t seem to mean Satan but someone (people) considered evil except John 13:2 “During supper, when the devil had already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him,” which seem to be the first insistence of the manipulating people minds directly.
Acts 5:3
“But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thy heart to lie to the Holy Spirit, and to keep back part of the price of the land?” Another insistence of Satan manipulating directly
The rest of the New Testament continues to portray Satan as a demon thats the enemy of God and humans.
Which version of Satan is right? The accuser of man or the adversary of God? Well the adversary of God only works if Satan is equal to God (which would make Satan a god) but the accuser of man role would not work given what the New Testament says. Is there a middle ground? Yes, God created Satan to rebel, to be an accuser of man and adversary of God.
What about the war in heaven? Well its only mentions the war in Revelations 12:7-9 and the whole chapter seems like a bad acid trip (as dose much of Revelations) and it doesn’t really give much information on the war or why it happened or the motivations of Satan. The only thing we get is Satan lost the war and he, a dragon and the angels that fallowed him where cast out of heaven. And the fact that there could be a war in heaven has allot of consequence that Christens do not like and ignore.
But is Satan evil? Well, he did kill Jobs family and ruin his life (until God fixed it) but with Gods permission but God has killed and caused suffering in far more people than Satan. If you actually compare the 2 , Satan turns out to be the lesser evil.
Note: I didn’t add any links to the chapters as a usely do. Thats cause I didn;t feal like doing a bunch of copying and pasting. Just go here. Its got all the versions, its got a search thing.

Satan is not out there. Both Satan and Saint is deep in our ’self’!
satan is really evil if you read the bible you will see that satan was also refered to in the bible as luserfur and your web site is very offensive to me as a christan you realy have to have a relashship with god to belive that satan is evil and if you are christan you should konw that satan is evil and that you should never ? god or what is word says. God bless
I HAVE NO RELIGIOUS BELIEFS AT ALL AND DO NOT BELIEVE IN RELIGION BUT I BELIEVE THERE WAS ONCE A TRUE HISTORICAL RELIGION WHICH PREDATED CHRISTIANITY BUT NOW CHRISTIANIT,JUDAISM HAS INFECTED THE WHOLE WOLRD AND NOBODY IS UNIQUE, EVERYONE IS A SHEEP OF GOD. hOW DO YOU KNOW GOD EXISTED…YOU DONT, SO PLEASE DONT COME OUT WITH ALL THIS RELATIONSHIP WITH JOB BULLSHIT.
And how do you know that God does not exist?….
That’s right. You DON’T.
It would be impossible for you to say 100% that God DOES NOT exist.
If you’re going to take that line of argument, then I’ll say, how do you know that Zeus does not exist?
Thats right. You DON’T.
How do you know that Brahma does not exist?
Thats right. You DON’T.
How do you know that Amun-Ra does not exist?
Thats right. You DON’T.
See where I’m going with this?
It would be impossible for you to say 100% that These Gods DO NOT exist.
So why value the christian god over them?
Um, read the post. If Satan is as evil as you believe, the bible doesn’t support it.
Ok this relationship with god bull shit, is just that, bullshit. You can not have a relationship with God. Why? I’ve already talked about that here
My blog is offencive to you? Well I’m not going to change anything or even apologise for it. I’ve seen allot of web site and blogs that offend me but I never go on there and say “that offends me” and I would fight to defined there rights to be offencive. Theres allot of things in this worlds offencive, get over it.
I don’t need top believe in God, theres no reason to juts as theres no reason to believe in Zeus, the Lockness Monster, alien abduction or magical pixies. Belief should require objective evidence.
Ok, you know what , now i am deeplee effended.
I quietly comb on here , reading your articels, learning mush thing bout no-god.
His time, you go too far.
“theres no reason to believe in the Lockness Monster,”
wy your infidel swiner.
May a jackals of hell fly a 747 into your infidel place of home.
BTW 01: You spelleded “Lockness” wrong, thers an “h” in there somewhere : Locknesh. Lern to spell people.
BTW 02: I’m an atheist too. Thank God.
“Lern to spell people.” …you’re so cute. First off you misspelled “Learn”.
HA. You’re the one to talk about not spelling correctly.
You misspelled “Deeply”, “Offended”, “Articles”
I assumed He wasn’t serious.
Edit: “assumes”? *Bangs head on desk*.
Yo, Lone Wolf, seriously tho, love you’re site.
came across a weird article trying to get back to this one:
“Sightings of the Loch Ness Monster and other similar creatures are proof that Satan is attempting to create his favorite creatures again. But the specimens are doomed due to the demise of his powers; this accounts for the difficulty which many people have in actually seeing the Loch Ness Monster.”
“Beware of those who take pity on wolves and crocodiles; they are dupes of Satan! God is already destined to wrest the Earth from Satan’s grip, destroying “his seed” once and for all. Nuke ‘em, for then you will be fulfilling God’s will!”
strange stuff from a book called, “Did god destroy the dinosaurs?”

AV, you are the cute one.
I was at DeviantArt and enjoyed you’re drawings.
Keep it up, you’re doing good.
You know, I’ve been reading the Bible and writing about it on my blog ( http://wilybadger.wordpress.com/badgers-bible-project/ ). I’ve come to two conclusions so far.
1. If I didn’t know God was supposed to be good, I’d figure he was the villain of the piece.
2. If Lucifer really did rise up and oppose God, possibly he had a point.
True. And given that the gods of the bible are evil, would that make Lucifer the hero?
I believe the civilized world has long established that those who take up arms against oppression are indeed heroes. Satan’s major crime seems to be simply escaping the chains of God, and helping others to do so. The only question in my mind morally, in regards to Satan, if we was in fact the snake, is was it wrong to pluck Adam and Eve from their ignorance? After all ignorance is bliss, yet at the same time, all sentient beings have the right to be educated about the world around them. This is another basic right in the civilized world.
In any case, after reading all the various post end times fairy tails, fighting with Satan against God, and/or just be snuffed out of existence all together sound like a much better fate to me than spending the next infinity eons on my knees worshipping a megalomaniac.
Evil must be opposed, God is certainly evil, and unless you think someone besides Satan has a better chance of taking him down; all fall in, closed ranks, behind General Satan!
Of course the whole Jewish zombie holy book is make believe, but it’s still fun to criticize historic fiction.
*Smells sulphur, and turns on the AC as his house seems to be getting really warm all of the sudden.* ;-p
If I may clear something up of the whole Satan-Adam-&-Eve schpeel, no, as Lucifer (or Satan, doesn’t matter) was not even mentioned in Genesis, he is not responsible. A more likely candidate was Lilith, Adam’s first wife. However, it was probably just a plain old talking snake. Mind you, as well, even if it was Lucifer, he was just doing his job as the “Light-Bringer” to enlighten the two.
To put it other wise:
The day Satan is finished and vanished, God too vanishes for He finds no more ‘business’ to do. As long as Satan sustains, God too sustains.
Foolish. God is not Evil. He is all things good.
Satan is the Evil One—the “Father of Lies”, if you will.
True… God did kill quite a lot of people, especially with that flood when he had Noah build an arch…
But God brought us here on earth, He has a right to take us away. And, all those lives, the good ones, went to Heaven—which is far better than Earth.
Satan, on the other hand, didn’t only kill people, but he tempted Eve, bringing Sin into this world, which made people capable of going to Hell. PLUS, SATAN DOES NOT GIVE A DAMN ABOUT YOU. HE HATES ALL HUMANS. He knows that one day, Jesus Christ will destroy him; and until that day, all Satan cares about is finding how many souls he can drag to hell with him.
Foolish. Yahweh is evil. his actions in the bible are evidence.
Your views of Satan are not backed up by the bible. Satan’s actions in the bible do not show him to be the “father of lies”, in fact based on Satan’s depictions in the bible the Jewish view of Satan (a prosecuting attorney for Yahweh (example: the book of Job)).
Yahweh’s action in the bible are unjustifiable. Him creating the universe does not justify his actions, it only makes him more evil. If I built a sentient robot, equal to a human. Would I have the right to torture and kill it? Hell no! You can not say “He is all good things” with out first making a standard for “good” and “evil”, if Yahweh is within the standards of “good” He is good. You can not say “He is good because He is God”, because then you have no standard for “good” and with out standards for what/who is “good” then there is no good.
I apoligise for my spelling.
